Artichoke tea is a beverage which is made from artichoke leaves. . It is considered a herbal tea, as it does not have any caffeine.
Artichoke is member of the thistle family, the artichoke plant (Cynara scolymus). It is one of the most ancient foods in the world. Water temperature
Artichoke is hearty plant that can easily take the heat. Thus, it’s not as delicate as green or white tea, so the water temperature doesn’t matter this much. For boiling fresh artichoke or pouring water over an artichoke tea bag, a high water temperature isn’t a problem.
Steeping time
Steeping times may vary depending on what kind of artichoke you use.
Artichoke tea bag. For an artichoke tea bag, steep tea for about 5-10 minutes to ensure that you draw enough flavors out of it.
Dried loose-leaf artichoke tea. Steep it for 10 minutes or longer as you identify that tea is full-bodied enough.
Fresh artichoke tea. In this case, it will take the longest period of time to make a cup of artichoke tea. Typically, it is a half an hour or even more.
The amount of artichoke
The amount of artichoke you want to use to make your tea is going to depend on what type of tea you’re using. 1 artichoke tea bag; 2 teaspoons of artichoke powder; 2 teaspoons of dried artichoke leaves, or whole artichokes boiled in water.
To make artichoke tea using its dried leaves, you will need 2 teaspoons of leaves, 1 cup of hot water, and sugar (optional). Add boiling water to artichoke leaves and steep for 10-15 minutes. You can add sugar or fresh mint before serving. Enjoy your tea!
